Outremont (Québec) – Tuesday, January 15th marked Rachel Bendayan’s official campaign launch for her home riding of Outremont. Liberal supporters lined up to join the crowd bristling with energy. At the launch of her campaign, Ms. Bendayan addressed some of the issues identified by residents of Outremont as their priorities for the community.
These include: the environment, support for small businesses, embracing diversity, and social housing.
“All of these issues are about the kind of world we are leaving for our children,” Ms. Bendayan said. “We need clean air and water, a strong economy with well-paying jobs for the middle class, and support for all those working hard for a better a life for their families.”
Ms. Bendayan was born in the riding and is raising her family here in Outremont – Rachel has been an engaged and passionate advocate for the community for years – work that she now hopes to continue Ottawa. Under the theme of Vivre Ensemble, Ms. Bendayan is committed to continuing her strong community advocacy through positive politics, dialogue between communities and respectful debate about the issues important to all of us.
“At a time when we continue to see politics dominated by attacks and rhetoric, we need to ensure we stick to the facts when discussing the issues Canadians have elected us to address,” said Ms. Bendayan. “Outremont, Cote des Neiges and the Mile End are extremely diverse areas, bringing together a range of cultures, backgrounds and talent – Ottawa needs more Outremont.”
With a growing team of volunteers and supporters, Ms. Bendayan is encouraging all Outremonters to participate in this important by-election to have their voice heard in Ottawa.
